Thurs 8th July against Town Walls1 away.
Wrekin won 3-1 against a team with a weaker 2nd pair and took full advantage of it, with one of the players making unforced errors. James/Gary were taken to 3sets against the 1st pair but won the tie-break 10/7, they beat the 2nd pair 6-0 6-0. Dean/Ivor beat the 2nd pair 6-1 6-0 but lost to the 1st pair 3-6 2-6, a combination of unforced errors and tiredness in the end.
The team travel to Hollies TC on tues. a team they know nothing of, leaving the last match vs Market Drayton on the 26th July at home.
More valuable points gained if we can keep it up to at least stay in group2.
Regards IB Team Capt.
Men1 lost their first match on Monday to Welti 1 which had to be played indoors at Welti Centre due to circumstances at Wrekin courts. Again Welti brought in county players, one at the last minute due to injury.

Both pairs played well, James/Gary just lost in a 3rd set tie break 10/8 vs the first pair but beat the 2nd pair in a final set tie break also 10/8. Dean/Ivor went down 3-1 early on but came back well to lead 6-5 and 30all but lost it in the tie break 7/5.The 2nd set they lost 6-3. Against the first pair they kept up with for a while but lost 7-5 and 6-3 in the 2nd set.

It was a good performance by the team against the league leaders and favorites for group 2, and valuable experience for Dean who is improving all the time.

Two other recent matches we just managed to win was by a set against Longdon, and 8 games against Boughy Gardens.
With 3 matches left we stand a good chance of staying up which I was looking for in the beginning and an outside chance of promotion.
Ivor Baldwin.Capt.

We played Cound1 at home on monday 10th May. James/Gary carried on their winning ways against the first and second pairs only dropping about about 8 games.
Dean/Ivor made a slow start against the second pair who were quite determined, but came through 6-4 6-2. Against the first pair they made to many unforced errors as they lost in two sets and should have done better.
We have got off to a good start but there are hard matches to come, if we can win another one or even two we should stay up.
One bright note we beat the 3rd team to the beer and sandwiches, they came in at 10-00.
Ivor.

The team got off to a good start beating a strong Shrewsbury 2 team 3-1away on Monday night.
It took both pairs a while to get use to the courts, playing at no1s were James Priestley/Gary Loxley who lost the first set 7-5 came back well and won the next two sets quite comfortably. Against the 2nd pair they only dropped 4games finishing very strongly, and hopefully carrying on to the next match.
The 2nd pair was a new partnership of Dean Thomas/Ivor Baldwin who again started slowly, but won the first set 6-4 which was close. They won the 2nd set 6-2 mainly due to playing and winning the important points.
Dean has stepped up a couple of groups to Div.2 and did well, and Im' sure will go from strength to srength as he gains more experience.
The matches to come will be hard as there are a few 1st teams in the group, and one team as we know have all county players.
